Employee Appreciation Gifts

Gifts that recognise people without reading as an HR exercise — how to pick something a team actually keeps, and the three moments worth spending on.

The problem with most employee gifting

Employee gifts fail in a predictable way. Somebody is asked to source something nice for the team, the budget is per head and reasonable, and what arrives is a box of items nobody would have chosen and nobody quite feels able to throw away. It gets photographed, it gets thanked for, and six weeks later it is in a drawer.

The cause is almost never the budget. It is that the gift was specified to be inoffensive to two hundred people rather than genuinely good for one. Those are different briefs and they produce different objects.

The test that predicts whether a gift lands

One question does most of the work: would this person have bought this for themselves if it were slightly cheaper?

If yes, the gift is safe. It sits in the category of things somebody wanted but did not get around to — a flask better than the one on their desk, a notebook they would not have justified, a desk piece they would not have thought to look for.

If no, no amount of branding or packaging rescues it. This is why generic merchandise fails and why a smaller number of better things consistently outperforms a fuller box at the same spend.

Three moments worth spending on

Most companies spread their gifting budget thinly across the calendar. Spending it on fewer, better-chosen moments works better.

Arrival. The first physical thing a new employee receives, on the one day they are paying complete attention. High leverage, and the easiest to run as a standing programme rather than a project.

Recognition of something specific. A completed project, a long-service milestone, a promotion. The gift matters far less than the fact that it is attached to a named reason — a good gift with a vague occasion reads worse than a modest gift with a real one.

A festival the company actually marks. One properly done beats three done minimally. Diwali is the obvious one in most Indian companies, and it is also the one most often planned three weeks too late.

What to avoid

Sized apparel, ordered blind. A t-shirt in the wrong size is not a gift; it is a task you have handed someone. If apparel is the plan, collect sizes first or move it out of the gift and into a separate ordering process.

Anything that needs explaining. If the gift requires a card describing what it symbolises, the object is not carrying the message.

Branding on the front of everything. A logo on the outer box is welcome. The same logo across the face of the object turns a gift into merchandise, and the recipient can tell which one they have been given.

Practicalities

Every set here ships in its presentation packaging, branded to your logo where you want branding. Delivery is pan-India and tracked, to one office or split across home addresses from a list you send us. Invoicing is GST-registered and itemised, which is usually the part procurement asks about first.

Questions about employee appreciation gifts

What is the minimum order for employee gifts?

25 units. That covers most single-team and single-cohort orders. If you are gifting a smaller group and want the same standard of presentation, the executive sets are built for short lists and can be quoted at the same minimum.

Can gifts be delivered to employees working from home?

Yes, and it is now the more common brief. Send us a list with names and addresses and each gift is packed individually and dispatched with tracked delivery to the recipient. One CSV from you, no coordination on your side, and one tracking reference per person rather than per order.

How far in advance do we need to order?

Three to four weeks is comfortable for a branded gift at team scale — artwork sign-off, production, packing and dispatch. Unbranded sets move faster. The date that actually matters is artwork sign-off, not the order date, so getting a logo file approved early buys more time than ordering early does.

Should everyone get the same gift?

Usually yes for a single moment — a festival, a milestone, an all-hands. Tiering by seniority is visible to everyone and reliably costs more goodwill than it buys. Where budgets genuinely differ, it is better to separate the moments than to separate the people at one moment.
